The geographical specificities of Jaigaon and its adjourning areas are such that the students after completing their graduation cannot peruse their Masters degree from recognized state universities. This is not only because of the college’s marginalized location but also due to economic constrains of diverse kinds. Under such circumstances it was only logical that the college would strive to provide graduate students with an alternative form of higher education through the IGNOU and NSOU curriculum. In a country like India where qualified students far outnumber the universities, these forms of alternative education mechanism are proving to be highly effective.
