Human Values & Professional Ethics
Nani Bhattacharya Smarak Mahavidyalaya (NBSM) is deeply committed to embedding key
crosscutting themes, including Professional Ethics, Gender, Human Values, Environment, and
Sustainability, into its curriculum in collaboration with the University of North Bengal. The institution
recognizes the profound impact these themes have on shaping students’ perspectives, values, and
behaviors, fostering both holistic development and social responsibility. These critical areas equip
students with essential skills and values, empowering them to make meaningful contributions to their
personal and professional lives.
Human Values
NBSM places a strong emphasis on professional ethics, preparing students to face the challenges and
responsibilities they will encounter in their careers. The curriculum integrates ethical principles such as
integrity, honesty, accountability, and respect for diversity. Through case studies, discussions, and
experiential learning opportunities, students critically engage with ethical dilemmas and develop decisionmaking skills that enable them to approach complex professional environments with moral clarity and
sound judgment.
Professional Ethics
NBSM places great importance on cultivating human values such as compassion, empathy, tolerance,
and respect for human dignity. Through value-based educational initiatives, the college nurtures students’
moral and ethical development, promoting social responsibility and encouraging meaningful
interpersonal relationships. By embedding these values into the curriculum, NBSM inspires students to
lead lives of integrity, kindness, and altruism, making positive contributions to society. Activities such as
the Save Girl Child campaign, essay and poster exhibitions, wallpaper presentations, and gender audits
further reinforce these core values.
