Guidelines for Admission

Important Instruction

  1. No physical presence of the candidates or any related person will be required at college campus during the process of admission (as directed by the Dept. of HE, Govt. of West Bengal vide G.O. No. 804-Edn(CS)/10M-95/14 dated: 13.05.19).
  2. Only Online Application Submitted before the closing date will be accepted.
  3. Application Form sent in any other mode will be rejected.
  4. In case any furnished information is found wrong later on his/her candidature is liable to be cancelled.
  5. All Payment should be done through Online Mode.

Candidates are required to upload scanned copies of the following documents before Printing Application Form

  1. Colour Passport size Photo(20-50 KB), Width & Height Specification :< (250x350) pixel.
  2. Colour(Black) Signature with white background (20-50 KB),Width & Height Specification : < (250x50) pixel..

Candidates are required to upload scanned copies of the following documents before Admission

  1. 10+2 Mark Sheet.(100-150 KB)
  2. Class 10th Admit Card. (100-150 KB)
  3. Caste Certificate for SC,ST,OBC-A,OBC-B. (100-150 KB)
  4. PH Certificate from the Competent Authority (100-150 KB)

NOTE : A candidate cannot claim to be SC/ST/OBC-(A/B) or PH unless the certificate is submitted.

A student may be admitted to B.A./B.Sc./B.Com/BCA & BBA Honours Program & Program Course after passing the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or examinations conducted by Indian School Certificate (ISC) or Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or any Other Board recognized as equivalent provided he/she has passed in at least four subject with English as Compulsory Subject, excluding Environmental Studies/Environmental Science/Environmental Education.


Those candidates who have obtained either (i) 55% marks in the aggregate or (ii) 50% in the aggregate with 60% marks in the subject in the qualifying examinations shall be eligible to apply for admission to Honours Program in the subject concerned. Admission to a course shall be subject to availability of seats and based on merit.


Provided for SC/ST candidates the minimum marks for eligibility shall be (i) 50% Marks in the aggregate or (ii) 45% marks in the aggregate with 60% in the subject for admission to Honours Program course in the subject concerned. Admission to a course shall be subject to availability of seats and based on merit.


Reservation of Seats for Online admission into B.A./B.Sc./B.Com/BCA & BBA Honours Program & Program Course for SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B and persons with disabilities are to be maintained as per the relevant G.O.’s (3% Reservation of Seats for persons with disabilities vide G.O. No. ED-340/2012 Dt. Kolkata, the 4th July, 2012) and also considering the amendments as proposed in notification No, 621-Edn(U)/EH/1U-89/13, dated 25.06.2015 issues by the Higher Education Department Government of West Bengal.


Admission to all Honours Program Courses will be based strictly on merit. Merit shall be calculated as per the following norms:


Merit = {Marks obtained in English + Marks obtained in the subject opted for Honours + best marks of other two subjects [excluding EVS, the subject opted for Honours and English]} / 4.


If the Student does not have the specific subject opted for Honours in his/her previous Course, the procedure for Merit Calculation will be as follows:


Merit = {Marks obtained in English + Marks in three other best of subjects excluding EVS} / 4.


A single Merit List is to be prepared taking applicants from all recognized Boards of India together, vide Circular no. 359/UG-10(115) dated 22.06.2010, issued by the Office of the Secretary, Under-Graduate Council, University of North Bengal. No foreign students can be admitted without proper Student Visa as issued by the respective High Commissions/Embassies.


The Council also resolved that “all students of Higher Secondary (Vocational) Course [X + 2] will be treated as equivalent with the course curriculum and syllabus of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) w.e.f. the session 2009-10”. Such students shall be admitted only in the 1st year/semester courses of B.A./B.Sc./B.Com Program Courses.


Applications seeking permission for admissions by any candidate to any college affiliated to the University of North Bengal after the last date of online admission shall not be entertained by the University Authorities under any circumstances.
