From the desk of Principal

Dear Readers,

The Nani Bhattacharya SmarakMahavidyalaya is a Government Aided General Degree College permanently affiliated to the University of North Bengal and subsequently included under section 2(F) and 12(B) by UGC Act, 1956. The college is located at Jaigaon which is a beautiful small town of Alipurduar District in the state of West Bengal, India and is considered a business hub of the Doors region. It is a conglomeration of diverse cultures and ethnic groups, multicultural and multi-ethnic in orientation, surrounded by beautiful Tea Gardens. The college is situated 2 KMs ahead of Jaigaon town and 16.5 Km away from New Hasimara Railway Station.

The institution has become one of the recognized centres of education, enabling thousands of under privileged students of Jaigaon and its adjoining areas to receive and acknowledge the value of education which is considered a cornerstone of a civilised society. The institution provides students a platform where overall development of their persona is recognised on a wider scale. We firmly believe that every student has the potential to become resilient and socially conscious young adults and thus the development of students in the academic field and their ethical growth is our main concern. The process of transforming amateur and naïve students to extraordinary citizens requires an active participation of the students in various curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. I am pleased to announce that at present the total number of Permanent Teaching Staffs (UGC Scale Substantives) are 11 and total number of SACT are 14 who are proudly serving the college. The total number of permanent Non-Teaching Staffs is 12 and Ad hoc – 8. In BA Program (General) Course, 11 Subjects (Disciplines) are taught and a total of 8 subjects are there to be availed for BA Honours Program Course. The total number of students presently enrolled is approximately 2000. The institution is also offering students to enrol themselves in NSS Programme and to pursue PG Courses through distance mode of learning. The Learning Support Centre of IGNOU and NSOU are available in various Subjects.

I am fortunate to work with such dedicated and caring staff members and students. I find each day an adventure filled with new experience, and a chance to constantly widen my horizon. I strongly believe that education is a collaborative effort that involves professional administrators, committed teachers and motivated students. As an institution we dedicate ourselves as professional administrators and Teachers in creating a dynamic education programme intended to empower the students with a wider perspective.
